Este artículo analiza las dos formas de hacer política que se dieron en Andalucía en el reinado de Isabel II. Se describe la naturaleza de esta monarquía y se sostiene que el caciquismo como práctica política emerge y se consolida en este largo reinado. A continuación se analiza el proceso de politización que se produce en el mundo rural andaluz y el arraigo que el Partido Demócrata consigue en amplias comarcas, creando una sociabilidad política alternativa a la de las elites que ostentaban el poder.
This article analyzes the two ways of doing politics that can be found in Andalusia during the reign of Isabella II. It describes the nature of this monarchy and mantains that the chieftainship as a political practice appears and consolidates during this reign. Next, it expounds the process of politicization that took place in the Andalusian rural environment and the entrenchment achieved by the Democratic Party in large regions, which made possible an alternative political sociability regarding the elites that hold the power.
