Este artículo analiza las últimas crisis de subsistencias en el País Vasco antes de la construcción de los ferrocarriles. Distingue el impacto en las zonas productoras (de trigo y/o de maíz) y en las ciudades. En dos de éstas, a pesar de la imagen de paz social transmitida por las autoridades fueristas vascas, las subsistencias suscitaron movilizaciones populares, sólo en 1854. El artículo aborda también las respuestas, interesadas políticamente, de las distintas administraciones públicas.
This article analyses the last subsistence crisis in the Basque Country befare the railways building. It distinguishes the impact over the producer areas (wheat andlor corn) and over the cities. In two of these, in spite of the social peace image transmitted for basque fueristas authorities, the subsistences raised popular movilizations, only in 1854. The article also covers the responses, politically interested, from the different public administrations.
